I recommend using some archers to make the lure last longer and wizards to do massive damage to packs of hogs. Include troops in your CC that will be tougher to pull and kill and will destroy hogs if not killed properly. This will require your attacker to use hogs or balloons to lure your CC and make it harder fully lure. Ideally, the entire lure circle should be contained within your walls. Make sure your CC is as centralized as possible.Take these steps to protect against hogs: The biggest threats to a hog raid are an incomplete CC kill, giant bombs, and spring traps. Level 4 hogs (and even level 3 to some extent) will steamroll TH8 defenses. The best way to protect against hog raids is having a difficult to lure and kill CC and smart trap placements. Now that you have built a base that is strong against dragons, you want to take steps to protect against the other threats at TH8: hogs and GoWiPe. Place your black air bombs in your core to kill dragons that make it near the TH. WTs can destroy packs of balloons coming in for a snipe, especially if those balloons also get hit by a red bomb. Think about what AD you would try to snipe with loons and load up bombs there. Protect your most vulnerable ADs (where loons could easily path to them) with red air bombs.Either way, like archer towers, you want your teslas protected deeper inside your base. Instead, I tried to space them out and have one near each AD to help kill drags approaching it. Due to the way my base design worked and me wanting to have 4 possible double giant bomb spots (anti-hog), mine are not. Some people like to put teslas in the core.Protect your archer towers behind other defenses instead of cannons and mortars. Against dragons, cannons and mortars are useless. This means all 5 of them can target anything getting near the core. 4 of mine are in the second ring of defenses and the 5th is in my core. This will stall dragons so the air defense hits them longer. Protect air defense with two storages in front of but also within range of each. That way dragons can never be funneled to more than one at a time. Mine are just spaced out just far enough that they don’t overlap each other and in a triangle pattern for maximum coverage. With that being said, here are the design considerations I follow to make a base strong against dragons: I believe it is better to build a solid, straightforward base instead a gimmicky base. A good attacker can exploit these kinds of bases by creating a proper funnel and getting a load of dragons and balloons into the core under rage. In my personal opinion, these are only effective at making bad attackers worse. Many people design moat style bases like the Tootsie Roll and others that funnel dragons around the outside. Because of this, most design choices should be made to thwart these attacks. At TH8, dragon attacks are by far the most I have seen against me. Now that I am about to upgrade to TH9, I wanted to share everything I learned about designing a TH8 base to best defend in war. Clash of Clans TH8 War Base Design Guide by jimbo831 You don’t get a lot of it but when you do, get ready for some space-faring slam poetry. One cool thing they added that I love is the ability to turn on the narration from the other versions of the game outside of America that had narration. I mean, her suit is that advanced but can’t offer me a GPS-style series of waypoints to get me from point A to point B? Stop being my dad and just ask for some damned directions Samus, there’s no harm in looking up help. I kept reflexively hopping into the map trying to add a waypoint I couldn’t add because that wasn’t a thing that games regularly had. I’ve been spoiled by games with a ton of accessibility features. My only complaint with this remaster is a 100% “me problem”. But I don’t play video games to be active so I’m team dual-sticks. You can also switch to a variety of other control options like the motion controls from the Wii or a hybrid of both. WARNING: If you have epilepsy or have had seizures or other unusual reactions to flashing lights or patterns, consult a doctor before playing video games. The auto-aim is heavy but I’m not complaining as there are some really swift enemies in the game and dual sticks on the Joy-Cons is not something my hands like to do. Locking on and strafing is still satisfying. It’s still remarkably fun to play as well. It’s a cool effect that constantly reminds you that you’re in Samus’s world. It’s a feature that also jump scared me in the game Her Story, the first time I saw the protagonist’s face on the monitor reflection. Choose from Same Day Delivery, Drive Up or Order Pickup. All in all, it’s a pretty good time to be a Metroid fan.I was also very happy to be jump scared by the exact same effect that had done so in the original when you first off an explosion too close to you and you get Samus’s face reflected in the visor. Read reviews and buy Metroid Prime Remastered - Nintendo Switch at Target. But on more powerful hardware, that can only be in the game’s favor. Sure, the game might get pushed back until the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. We’re not going to know anytime soon when Metroid Prime 4 will release, but the quality of Metroid Prime Remastered leads me to think the game’s in very good hands at Retro Studios. Though, between the success of 2021’s Metroid Dread and the impeccable Metroid Prime Remastered, I’m now more confident than ever that the series has a bright future. With the continued radio silence on Metroid Prime 4, it’s easy to feel jaded about the future of the franchise. It’s a blessing for my aging hands, for sure. That also means if you press the button in a rhythm, you can maintain auto fire without constantly spamming it. Now, holding the button activates a three-round burst fire that’s great for quickly dealing with teems of lower-health enemies. Previously, a press of the fire button would launch a single bullet at an enemy. I could only recommend this option to true purists, of course, but I love that the option’s even there to begin with.Īnd when it comes to gameplay, I’m a huge fan of one nifty quality of life update in particular. You can even go a step further and play with the Switch’s official Nintendo Gamecube pad, originally created for Super Smash Bros. Or if you’re really old-school, you can opt for the ‘Classic’ control scheme that perfectly mimics the original release’s button layout. Want to mix right analog stick aiming with a touch of gyro for finer control? You can do that, too. Prefer the motion aiming introduced in the Metroid Prime Trilogy port? There’s an option for that. While the new dual stick control scheme will suit newcomers versed in the best FPS games, Retro Studios has gone the extra mile to cater to all kinds of players. Creative controlĪnother huge aspect of Metroid Prime Remastered is its commitment to replicating pretty much every control option the game’s ever had. Be it Bayonetta 3 ’s tipsy framerate or Pokémon Scarlet and Violet ’s stark lack of detail, playing certain games has – perhaps wrongly – made me believe that the Switch was a little washed up.Īnd yet here comes Metroid Prime Remastered, showing that in the hands of a capable dev, this is a console very much still capable of incredible things.Īs I explore the sufferingly hot climes of Magmoor Caverns, dusty Chozo Ruins, and the ice-cold Phendrana Drifts I experience no performance drops, despite being so much more immersive and detailed than they were back in the Gamecube days. The Switch’s aging Tegra X1 processor holds back many of the best Nintendo Switch games when it comes to performance. Looking up toward the sky, the heavy rainfall dripping onto Samus’ visor, there was just one thought in my head: “I can’t believe this is running on Switch.” And at a locked 60fps, no less.
